SCENARIO:
ICLEI, Local Governments for Sustainability, U.S.A. and the Sundance Preserve approached Attune to help produce the Sundance Summit 2006—Mayors Conference on Climate Protection, a three-day conference taking place at the Sundance Resort. This high-profile event is designed for US city mayors and has included many influential environmental and government leaders including Robert Redford, former Vice President Al Gore and Madame Secretary Madeline Albright. ICLEI and Sundance needed a partner that could not only provide excellent customer service and event management skills, they also required a partner who could implement green practices—Attune met these requirements.
In 2007 Attune was asked to reprise its role in managing the 2007 Sundance Summit.
SERVICES PROVIDED: Project management, speaker management, invitation distribution, event registration, venue operations, food and beverage, room block management, ground transportation, marketing materials design and production, recycling program.
RESULTS: Client satisfaction: Feedback from your clients is one of the best ways to measure the success of an eventand ICLEI, the mayors and the Sundance Preserve all had complimentary words for the Attune team.
GREEN PRACTICES: Every effort was made to ensure the event implemented green practices. Only a minimal amount of recycled materials were distributed, meals served were sourced from local and organic buyers, and we offset travel by purchasing Carbon Neutral offsets from one of the sponsors. In the end, we led by example and were able to showcase to the mayors and attendees simple steps that can help to make an event use fewer resources.
AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT: Audience Development: After three days at the event, the audience left the program with new tools and training to implement environmental policies and practices in their community. |
